Wisdom Teeth
Wisdom teeth are the last teeth to erupt in your mouth and they commonly do not grow in properly, this can cause problems like teeth crowding, infection, and destruction of the jawbone. Wisdom teeth removal is one of the most common oral surgeries performed.
Dr. Lee has over 18 years of experience extracting wisdom teeth.
The Surgical Proceedure
At our office, our goal is to make you feel comfortable and safe before, during, and after the extraction procedure. Here is what you can expect for extractions:
1. Consultation: We begin with an oral examination that evaluates the position of the wisdom teeth and allows Dr. Lee to determine if there are any present or potential future problems. Anesthesia options, as well as the surgical risks (i.e. sensory nerve damage, sinus complications), will be discussed with you before the procedure can be scheduled.
2. Extraction: In most cases, the removal of wisdom teeth is performed under sedation. Our procedures are done in an environment of optimum safety that utilizes modern monitoring equipment and staff that are experienced in anesthesia techniques. Once the teeth are removed, the gum tissue is sutured. To help control bleeding, gauze will be placed in your mouth to apply pressure to the area.
3. Post Treatment: Once the removal process is finished, you will be monitored until you are ready to be taken home. We will provide you with a postoperative kit that includes postoperative care instructions, an irrigation syringe, and extra gauze. There is no follow-up appointment needed.
